It doesn't?I've been poor, then well off, then dirt poor, and finally now just normal poor. When was I happiest? When I was able to write checks without bothering to balance the checkbook. If I saw something I had to have, I bought it. No worries over bills, etc. When I had money aka 'rich', I was far far happier than I am now. Actually had the time to do the things I consider important in my life. Trust me... Poor Sucks.
Those who make blanket statements have obviously never had blanket statements made against them. I grew up poor and happy. Now I am doing well and happy. My brother was poor and not too happy and now he doing ok but not too happy. So of course with a little more money POOF he will be happy right? When I see comments that try to lump everyone into nice little categories it makes it obvious why we have such a low tolerance for anyone else here in the US.
you probably have a lot of money, people with lot's of money usually have a skewed perception of money, money does buy happiness, your statement to the contrary automatically discredits you

Money buys happiness. Women are for sale. No matter how ugly you are, you can still get a super model if you have money. AKA Donald Trump.
