blogs.zdnet.com — ZD blogger Ed Bott has a detailed post on all the ways and reason why Microsoft's Passport log in system sucks. I completely agree with Ed and think it's time Microsoft gets the message that they abandon this annoying technology.

I understand irony. However, using "It's from Microsoft" ironically on Digg does not make any sense. Nothing ironic about it.Using "it's from Microsoft" in a piece blasting Microsoft" is NOT ironic. You didn't by any chance work as Alnis Morisette's songwriter before this job, did you?

microsoft have always had the wrong attitude. they always annoy their user base. personally I don't use microsoft sites except for support questions on their forums. to do that I had to join their passport, which annoyed me. I think that means installing .net ?? can't remember now.terrible idea from a customer viewpoint imho. A bit like AOL except I know how it is with them and their connection isn't that dear and includes exclusive content.

Check out OpenID (<a class="user" href="http://openid.net/).">http://openid.net/).</a> It predates the Liberty Alliance and has much of what you want.
