gizmodo.com — There are over a dozen people working at our fair Gizmodo, but as a Windows user, I'm in a definite minority. I still rock XP, and I'm pretty happy with that. Why haven't I switched to Macs? Plenty of reasons, not least of which being that I'm just too smart to switch to a Mac.That's right, I'm too smart for Macs.

yeah I went to school for graphic design and they had all mac computers at the lab. Gives me chills just thinking about it.Now I work as a 3D Animator/Modeler for a video game company and all we have... are... PCs.... hmmmm.I bought a mac and use it as DVD player in my entertainment center as that is about all it is good for.I think the guys who need a mac to improve their image don't know a think about graphics. But that's just me.

"Ready for this. There isn't ANYTHING I can't do with a PC that a MAC can do, and better, really"*Cough* Final Cut Pro. Or try software development - Windows APIs are a horrible mess...

Wanna know why I buried you? A f**king MONKEY could probably use a Mac, alright?!! This whole topic isn't even worth my time to elaborate on my opinions, I don't want to waste your time. Have fun tinkering with your aesthetically-pleasing, wanna-be PC that looks like it came from Toys 'R' Us, or go build some wings out of some MacBook Airs. The REAL innovations in computer technology will always be achieved through a PC. I'm SICK of seeing the stupid-ass commercials that appeal to the tech-illiterate, I'm sick of the iPhone, and I'm tired of the fanboys attempting to propagate a trendy, dumbed-down PC to the masses of society who ALREADY have a problem with technology. Why appease that kind of a problem by simplifying the user, while your Steve Jobs gets richer and richer off of the de-education of the human race? That's why I buried you, 'ignorant Mac user.'

Right - it's all about the hardware? Macs include color profiling for monitors in the OS. That's one good reason right there why they are good for photographers.

RE: "I'm lazy to re-write all my documents again because Windows has f**king crashed on me. I'm lazy to go find a certain DLL file that's missing... I'm a Mac user because I'm f**king lazy."Lazy, and more productive.

Actually, it wasn't Bill Gates exactly, but it was a Microsoft executive who told Apple to "knife the baby" :<a class="user" href="http://www.roughlydrafted.com/insideitunes3.html">http://www.roughlydrafted.com/insideitunes3.html</a>"... Apple executive Peter Hoddie asked Microsoft officials, "Are you asking us to kill playback? Are you asking us to knife the baby?" - to which Microsoft official Christopher Phillips responded, "Yes, we want you to knife the baby."

RE: "I like building my own desktops, and it would be cool if I could run Mac OS X on it legally, but then they would have to work to be more compatible and lose their image. So I probably won't be buying a mac desktop, but when I'm getting a laptop, hell yeah, give me tight hardware integration."Tight hardware integration rocks!

Macs are NOT the same price as PCs which are under specced and under powered.Macs ARE the same price as PCs that have equivalent specs and are not in the lower end of the PC parts bin price range.

Yeah maybe I wasn't clear. Here is exactly how it doubles your productivity.1) OS X NEVER HANGS. Sure the occasional app hangs, but you switch over to something else and you're on the go again.2) as a developer if I can compile and deploy something in under 10 or 15 seconds I can stay focused, more time than that and I have to switch over to something else - like digg. Windows breaks your concentration constantly. Studies have been done to say it takes ~30 minutes to get into a deep state of productivity. With Windows it's much harder to achieve and maintain that state. While in that state you can be 2x to 10x as productive. There it is.And like I said. No one has ever switched from Mac to Windows and said "wow this is better". That should tell you the whole story. Otherwise you've got eyes wide shut and pants on the ground.
