computeradvice.mikebinns.net — In response to an earlier front page story, which was flawed, Here are instructions on CCleaner and running its "Issues" scan. This scan does not delete DLL's as is the danger of the other scanners. It simply removes reg entries that are pointing at non-existent files. Speed is gained as the entries are all attempted to "load" when windows starts.

What's up with the lame no-brainer articles that feature 5-click tutorials on how to use the most obvious stuff? Are you guys all completely retarded or why the hell are you digging crap like this?

Believe it or not, Ccleaner has been out for longer than that. I remember using it for years. It's an awesome program, I use it about a couple times every week, regain maybe 500MB on a weekly basis. It is also a great program overall, allowing you to do multiple things. It's one of my favorite programs, and a definite must on every computer.

Ah, great. More utilities for people who know NOTHING about how Windows operates.Use Regclean from MS if you want something to organize your registry THE RIGHT WAY.

I have a laptop that is 2 1/2 years old ... and has never had it's registry cleaned. I carefully timed how long it took for Windows to load to the login screen. Then installed and ran ccleaner and rebooted. Here are my results....Before CCleaner ... 37 secondsAfter CCleaner ... 37 secondsI also try to time it took to login to the machine after the username/password prompt. This is more difficult as there is no message telling you the login is finished. Before ccleaner it took about 35 seconds for me to login. After ccleaner it was about the same speed. Maybe a few seconds faster, but not much.At least in my case, ccleaner has not improved my bootup speed at all. This is a machine I use daily and have installed/uninstalled many programs. Thus I thought it would be a good machine to test ccleaner.

I ran some rough startup speed benchmarks with CCleaner and Registry Mechanic:http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/3472

I have been using RegCure for about a year now and I really like it. I use it about once a month when I run my SpyWare/Adware programs and defrag.http://www.bestregistrycleaners.org/

I tried CCleaner once and found it ok, the only problem is if you have and other folders namded "Temp" the contents will also be deleted along with the windows temp folder. Overall it wasent the best I tried, my vote would have to go to Regcure as I discovered below.http://www.squidoo.com/regcure-serial

I'm not familiar with CCleaner, but I bought Regcure after reading the review here: http://www.registrycleanergeeks.com - do you think this one is any good?
