Its one thing to be book smart-- quite another to have common sense.I've met quite a few "smart" (brilliant even) techies in my time, but they're clueless on so many other fronts.

If seeing this six year old is important, then yes. At the end of life, very few people will say, "gee I wish I spent more time at work" vs. "I wish I had spent more time with my family".
