tubewad.com — HBO aired the first episode of its new comedy series on Sunday, although it had already released the episode on its website as well as on other sites, presumably to generate internet buzz. Unfortunately, the show is destined to fail. There are no fewer than four reasons why this Kiwi folk-comedy duo won?t be seeing a second season.

Are you guys joking? The music is the best part. Without the music it's Extras.

FOTC is definitely an acquired taste. Even though it is well scripted and the acting-superb, the dry humour is not for everyone. I would hate to see something so original and ingenious fail because let's face it, American television is often more times than none, full of obvious humour which is quite frankly, boring and tasteless. FOTC offers something a little more refreshing and challenging. I wear my business socks even if it's not Wednesday!

SuperCujo, check out a show called Corner Gas. Filmed in Canada, the show is awesome. 4 seasons already.Apparently it's become popular in the US too. I guess it's the same type of humour.

Sorry to disagree with this article and those who agreed with it, but I believe Flight of the Conchords will eventually succeed. First, a rebuttal to the four reasons given:1) Confusing Title - Actually, this was already rebutted above... Look at many of the successful shows... would you really know what they were about just by the title (Sopranos, Scrubs, Mash, All in the Family)... Give me a break, its not the title that makes or breaks the show if it's really good2) Low key humor - Dry humor? Very. There's nothing like it and its about time there was. Not everybody likes dry humor, but most do and those who do will flock to it because it's cleverly written3) No emotional attachment to characters? THIS IS A COMEDY, not a frickin' drama or soap. If it's funny, you will laugh and come back. Besides, there's a big dose of reality in their drudgery; you can laugh at yourself; something most of us can relate to.4) People don't like musicals??? If you compare this show to Bye Bye Birdie you're a nutcase. This isn't a "musical", its a comedy / rock video combo show. Tell me rock video is dead and I might believe you. Sure, it's possible the viewers could lose interest if the writers ran out of gas; but so far so good. If they can keep coming up with fresh songs and themes, it will work. This show is hysterical. The singing, acting and comedy are all top notch. Word of mouth will make this show a success

I think the shows great and funny. But maybe thats because im from NZ and get the humour and the satire of the kiwi stereotype that the characters are based on. i agree the show probably won't make it big in the US, but mostly because Americans won't get the humour, just as they don't get British humour

Lucky Louie was HORRIBLE though. I say that even though I'm a HUGE Louie C.K. fan.

I can honestly say I'm very happy I was wrong about this. The show has been getting better and better almost on a weekly basis. Now it's been renewed and I've lost a bet. Much the better as far as I'm concerned.

It does pretty well in the US as well, this author is just retarded.

it's been picked up for a second season, and i tried to get tickets for everyone of their USA shows. sold out. I think they're gonna do just fine.

I don't know how this show was received by the US public but people here in Australia love it. I imagine it will do well in other nations where people understand irony and comedies don't consist of cliches that are set up several lines preceeding the joke with canned laughter so that stupid people know when to laugh. Yes, it's very different to your typical American sitcom (eg it is subtle and has satire and wit), that doesn't mean it can't be successful. In some parts of the world quality is success, not quantity. It doesn't need to be a hit in the US to be successful either. A small, insignificant part of the world exists outside of America who appreciate this type of humour (eg NZ, UK and Australia (we don't get all huffy and psychotically patriotic when we someone makes fun of us here, we are capable of laughing at ourselves coz let's face it, we're kinda easy to poke fun at) etc) and we too like to laugh. The acting in FotC's, I think, is excellent. I almost feel like I'm watching real people not actors playing one dimensional characters that are little more than vessels for non-humourous, safe comedy, which is a refreshing change from most of the US comedy we get here.
