thelostjacket.com— Why did Facebook survive when its competitor Hi5 did not? A more secure site, pretty much free of spammers. Now that Facebook has branched out, it needs to make sure it doesn't go the way of MySpace.

Your assumption is that people are sensible when they socialize, on networking sites or not. From real world experience, they are not. Outside of professional work, people can be pretty damn silly.
1) I rarely get app invites anymore. I guess my friends finally see how pointless apps are.2) The apps are hidden on their own tab now. When you visit someone's profile, the first thing you see is their wall. Their fast-loading wall. No more clutter.
The simplest solution is not to give them any personal or private information to begin with. The only thing they have from me is my name and email address - something most spammers have anyhow.

"no money = no website"That's been the dilemma for the past 15 years. However, the web still exists.
