"wouldn't height (past a certain point) be less healthy?"Well, I'm 6'3" and I've hit my head so many times, I can't remember... who I am. Seriously though, being tall kind of sucks. Cars, chairs, and just about every thing else is made for shorter people. Stairways down to basements are the worst -- I saw white a few times on those in college. I suppose being half Norwegian and half German made me this way. On the plus side, I gained 30 lbs when I quit smoking and people still think I'm skinny.
This article isn't about what to eat to grow tall, it's about why the height of Americans isn't increasing as much as it should. It deals mostly with statistics, not scientific fact.
"the average human" !?the average US American has European ancestors. since it is said that America was discovered around 1500 i would say those 1k years of bad nutrition are the same for Americans and those Americans do have the same genes as those Europeans.the native North-American population was nearly wiped out and the cultural mix you mention basically means Europeans (including Spanish/Mexican) and Africans and Asian. so if you don't have any African or Asian ancestors, you are simply an European - genetically.
like others have saidits all these hispanics that are throwing off our numbersthey are all extremely shortespecially the poor ones coming from mexicoi live in southern california and see them all the timeim white and 16 and 6'4 and im not done growingin my group of friends, the shortest one is six footbut im of german and english descentboth of which are associated with those nordic countries mentioned in the articleso i guess my height makes sense

The rest of the US is certainly taller, it's the New Yorkers that are short...

That's a good read. Long, but really interesting.

You're obviously oblivious to the Algerian immigrant situation in France.

It doesn't matter how tall I am because in a couple of weeks I will be able to kick your ass way more worse than I do right now.
