nomorequo.blogspot.com— Why do good films with great movie posters get awful DVD Cover Art? This post discusses the question and compares some recent examples of this disturbing trend.

DVD cover art is a disturbing trend? WOW! I did not realize movies were such an important part of our existence as to nessecitate the use of the word "disturbing" at all! If movies and DVD's are such a big part of your f**king life that you actually care about this post, I suggest you get your fat obese ass off the couch and limit yourself to no more than 2 hours a week in front of that television of yours. Holy f**k, what is wrong with you people. I would almost understand if television and movies were more than mindless, focus grouped drivel. Get your ass up and do something interesting that does not involve some form of video entertainment. Maybe if you were at the gym as many hours as you watch movies you might be able to get your loser ass laid! The reason this is dugg as much as is has been is the exact same reason America is the most obese and illiterate society in human history.
This has bee nsaid a few times, but I thought that I wouldd say it again. Usually they save the cool looking art for the "special edition" releases. Look at hte Lord of the Rings series. Generic movie covers for the first release, giant boxed set with Tolkien designs all over it for hte special edition.
"The DVD was a must-have purchase for me until I saw the DVD cover:"what a douche. he was going to buy a movie that he had already seen, but the cover pissed him off so much that he forgot about how much he liked the movie.what do you expect from blogspam - i mean blogspot
Yep agreed - the special editions usually have different/better art thats more true to the film. The regular release cover is done to get people not familiar with it interested in renting/buying it. That's why they have cheesy shots of the actors.
I may be totally off about this but, the reason DVD covers are different can be summed up in two words: WalMart.Or is it one word? Anyway, WalMart is the largest seller of DVD's and movie companies always make a different version of the DVD cover so that WalMart will carry it in their stores.I don't remember where I heard this, but given the true tales of WalMart's strong arm tactics to vendors, I tend to believe it's true. I'd be interested to hear other versions of this.

The King of Scotland one is hilarious...the top picture looks like Forest Whitaker's character is this happy-go lucky jolly guy.
