mymac.com— Bad enough that every movie now plays ten to fifteen minutes of ads before we get to see the film we paid to see. Now they are invading our home purchased movies as well.

And don't forget about skipping or freezing discs. It doesn't matter how well you care for them, they deteriorate. Instead of making better discs, they offer scratch protection products at an additional cost. (Just remember not to take your anger out on the lowly clerks, it's the higher ups who make the decisions.)
@ multifacetedIf you know where to look you can get DVD R's for about $0.25 each. I've never paid more than $0.50 for ANY DVD R. I've never had a single one in over 200 fail either, they've all lasted well over 4 years so far too. DVD's aren't that expensive, and $0.25 is definitely worth it to have the DVD how you want it.
I want to know why the studios release a dvd and then rereleases the same DVD with directors cut, etc. I guess it is because some people are stupid enough to buy the same movie twice.Hoo Hoo, I invented DVDs, tellem Fred.opieandanthony.com
I can't believe this is on digg today. I was just cursing at my new Fantastic Four dvd last night. I couldn't even fast forward through the ads on this one. Usually I can just hit fast forward and it's not that big of a deal. The Fantastic Four dvd is complete bs. I pay $20 for a dvd and I am forced to watch 15 minutes of ads and copyright infringement crap. I couldn't use any of my dvd buttons except "stop". The menu button, chapter forward, fast-forward and even pause wouldn't work!
I also rip and remove all that extra s**t. Just use DVD decryptor's "remove PUOs" option (that stands for Prohibited User Action). f**k the MPAA, f**k all that s**t. (I'm drunk so I'm extra mad...) :)
Ive noticed this as well and it disgust me to the point if it becomes a popular trend I will buy a region free dvd player. I have a policy of mentioning unskipable adds in my netflix comments after returning a movie... it may not be much but its the only voice I have. The fact these marketing pigs think they have the right to force us to watch their ads makes me realize the revolution can not come soon enough...
I make backups of all my dvds using dvd shrink, coz my dvd player cant seem to play originals it only plays dvd-r's lol (this also gets rid of all the peripheral junk and just gives me the film I bought)

They can make DVDs all they want,as long as they don't phase out videotapes altogether. Personally I've always had better results with tapes.
