I used MalWareBytes and that solved my problem actually, and it was a life-saver.It had been a long time since I formatted though, and I didn't trust that everything was removed from the system, so I took the safe route and just went ahead with the reformat.

@mqduckFirefox's awesome bar, is very awesome if you don't have many bookmarks and saved cookies and history.I have to agree with you it's big pain in the ass when you start typing something in it for the first time.

Agreed, hiding the ads is not as good, because Adblock plus blocks ads from loading. Occasionally ads are infected with malicious javascript, and I avoided such an infection on a very popular website that way that my friends got. Google will never be as aggressive about ad-blocking, since all their revenue is based on advertising dollars.

If I want to run WebKit, I'll run Safari.

Chrome is fast and minimal. Resource friendly. VERY hard to crash. A killer javascript engine under the hood. My favorite feature is the ability to drag a tab out to spawn a new window - or join an existing window's tabs. Couple that with the slick Windows 7 docking gestures and you reach BROWSING NIRVANA.Being a long time FF fan and supporter, I've probably loaded it onto 30+ machines of friends and co-workers over the years. I didn't even load FF on to my brand new i7 machine. That kinda makes me sad, but it's just an inferior browsing experience.
