Do you want a tissue? Jesus Christ, man... The majority come back fine as they deal with their problems. Don't be a pussy, bro. If your feelings were hurt, please fill out the following form. Thank you. www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org/gates_letter_sept09/attach_1.pdf
@Lavarock - I get what you're saying, but you're incorrect. Army humor is... we'll say... different from civvie humor. When you say "friends don't distribute forms to each other - this is something passed down from higher ranking servicemen who don't want to deal with someone's problems." You're incorrect. See, I don't know if you've served, but we fill out DA and DD forms for frigging EVERYTHING -- when most servicemembers see something stupid or bulls**t, they mock it -- therefore, this form is kind of an in-joke amongst servicemembers. It's friendly ballbusting, not something that "comes from authority down to people who do NOT need to have their balls busted." -- for people that are actually upset, hurting, etc -- we handle things MUCH differently, especially in response to the aforementioned heightend suicide rates within the Army. I know in my shop, we treat one another as family. Yeah, we bust one another's balls and whatnot, but when one of us actually has a problem, someone ALWAYS stops to find out what's wrong, what's going on.This isn't true of many shops, but there are now classes on how to identify, console, and otherwise deal with Soldiers suffering depression. In short, your analysis of how the Army deals with depression / suicide is completely incorrect. Yes, we have forms for everything -- but this isn't one of them.
