chron.com — Barry Bonds* has one last chance to redeem himself. It won't be real redemption because it's too late for that. It simply would be a step in the right direction. He should ask for forgiveness. That's right, forgiveness. He should call a news conference and tell us why he did what he did. He might just be stunned at the reaction.

Baseball tends to not appreicate people who finally come forward and admit that they lied all along. Remember when SElig basically told Pete Rose that if he finally admitted that he bet on baseball and apologized that he would lift his lifetime ban? So finally Pete Rose did . Then nothing. And give me a break...he was indicted. Not found guilty. The LAST thing he should be doing right now is admitting anything. I think trying to salvage his reputation in baseball should take a backseat to trying to stay out of jail.

You'd need a pretty big blade to cut off that hugemangous noggin.

The government, a federal investigation should never, never be involved. What the hell have they to do with sports??? There are far more important things to occupy their time!! How do you know Barry is guilty? Connect the dots? He has not been proven guilty. All supposition now. I think he will get off scott free and squeky clean.

McGwire isn't involved in the Balco investigation. However, Jason Giambi was involved and manned up, admitted his steroid use and took the immunity deal in the beginning. Bonds was offered that deal once upon a time.

Barry Bonds is incapable of doing such a thing. Even though we know any act of contrition from bonds would be a piece of cynical media manipulation bonds could never admit that he has done anything wrong. And ask the forgiveness of us peons? Please

It won't happen. He'll always be remembered as the man with an asterisk by his name. End of game.
