First of all African American is a ethnic group not a race. Second of all this problem is more of class that ethnicity. People who aren't brought up with any sort of fiduciary sense will struggle to maintain money when endowed with it regardless of ethnicity or race. There is not any gene that dictates spending/saving habits.
You could look at it this way. Athletes are paid pennies per viewer, it's just that they can draw many viewers so they make their millions through sheer volume.
10 million or 10 thousand a lot of people have problems with spending and go broke. So I guess this is not about if they deserve that kind of money and loose it. A lot of people is just not good entrepreneur and thats fine...its really more like drawing a line of contentment when you have something a lot by it 10k or 10 million.
People must do some thing constructive to save all these athletes from this path of self-destruction. I propose starting a support group to help these lost individuals. something must be done about this dire problem.
Although it takes a tremendous amount of work to become a pro athlete the chances of you of actually becoming one are so slim that it is equivalent to winning the lottery (the only difference is that you still have to techanically work for it rather than purely from chance). So if you get selected to become pro, you techanically are still like a lottery winner--the only difference is that it actually required some skill rather than purely luck!
