This is probably one of the most overlooked statements in the Mac Vs. Pc debate.

I am probably going to be dugg down for this, but Windows users listen up. On Digg, at least at the present time, you cannot give an alternate opinion, even if it is a legitamate point. While other posts, concurrent with the opinion of the majority of users, will be dugg up.I'm not going to write a huge rant, because this will probably be dugg down faster than most of the posts, but I think there needs to be a change with how people use the rating system for comments. In my opinion, well thought out comments, even if you don't agree with them, should be dugg up or left alone, and the only comments you should digg down are ones such as "AWESOME!" and other comments that don't provide insightful information. The red thumbs down button is not for washing away people's comments that they spend time on, just so other's can't see their differing opinion. And, on the topic of why macs are becomming more popular, it's because they deserve some of the popularity, too. OS X is a great leap from OS 9, and with Leopard coming up the things I didn't like in Tiger will be made better. I think why people still hold harsh opinions on the speed and productivity of OS X depends on the mac the user is introduced to it on. If you are introduced on a macbook, mac pro, or even G5 machines, I feel that people would be more drawn to the OS and be impressed, moreso if I were to introduce people to Tiger on my old iBook G4, people would think otherwise of the operating system. Bottom line: Apple is starting to make more powerful, faster machines that allow you to do Photoshop and other productivity tools easier without system crashes, and people are starting to notice.

@macsuxwindowsux"Moreover, Osx86 tries to port OSX - Apple threatens to sue.Apple/Parallels bootcamps and/or emulates WinXP - Microsoft shrugs shoulders."OSx86 is violating the license of OS X which says it must be used on Apple hardware. Plus, most people using that aren't even paying for the OS. Apple sells hardware that includes an OS they also produce. Microsoft just sells the OS. With Parallels or Bootcamp, Microsoft still gets paid for the license as they normally would & those uses are totally in the license scope.... although MS has changed that with Vista. Home & Basic can't be used in VM according to their license.

People that build their own PC is far less than 1% of the PC buying market. It's a meaningless comparison. It's like saying don't buy a BMW because you can build your own car from scratch. Sure you can, but few people do for many reasons, including time & support. Most people look at computers as tools. They aren't fascinated by every spec of every element, they just want to get their work done without worrying about the details of the machine. The computer is incidental to the task.Same thing with cars. Most people just want a car to work getting them from point A to B... and hope that it looks nice. They don't want to build the exhaust system by themselves or replace the radiator so they can go 3 miles an hour faster in the desert. Because the car is incidental to the task of getting somewhere. The computer tinkerers like their car counterparts are more enamored with the machine itself. They do want to build the computer themselves spending inordinate hours hunting down the best prices for some component that will eek out a few extra FPS for a game. While that's great & may be important to you, that priority isn't what most people share.

I myself recently switched less than two weeks ago.I needed a laptop for class and figured why bother getting a Windows machine if its not for gaming. When I get another desktop, it will most likely be a Windows machine just because I think I want to put it together myself, but I'l probably wait until the good games taking advantage of the new generation of Direct X tools are out for Vista.
