computerworld.com — American kids hate books because they are rejecting all one-to-many media (including TV). If you want to make kids fall in love with books, make them participatory like Japan has. To increase the reading of novels, figure out how to let young people publish their own.

I suggest developing a system so that reading = more cool friends & attention. For the adults, reading = getting laid and money.people always want friends and attention. can't say the same for intellectual stimulation.

I never read that in school for some reason, but I did have to read Fahrenheit 451. My school, at least, picked out some decent books.

From what I understand, Shakesphere WAS considered a low brow author/playwright back in the day! He wrote to a lower class audience than the elite aristocrats that people today think he was entertaining. He also invented a bunch of English words, too, and used a ton of then contemporary slang.
