arstechnica.com — Pete Townshend has been a driving force behind the evolution of rock music for decades?but his latest project is aimed at taking that expertise and using it to create a unique software program, dubbed Method, capable of "painting" a person's musical portrait based on several types of input from each specific person.

glitchr wrote: "He is the guy who bought child pornography and charged it on his credit card. After he was caught, he claimed it was "research" and got off without prosecution because he is famous."hardly the whole truth! I think you'll find he **was** doing research. his book publisher confirmed that pete had been commissioned to write a serious book on child porn. PT had been molested as a kid and had talked about it previously in interviews. he wrote the song "uncle ernie" (from the Tommy album) and it deals with this issue.PT openly admitted that while researching the book he had (technically) broken the law. from memory, i think he was fined and had a crimial record and a warning. funny thing was seeing the news footage of the cops taking away his computers. they had a range rover full of top-of-the-line mac towers :-)
