Technically inaccurate. No NATION can own the moon, that particular treatise said absolutely nothing about INDIVIDUAL ownership.

The moon is no different than any other unexplored land. Whoever gets there first and lays claim owns it. This is the way it has been for all of human history. Why should the moon or other planets been any different. If you're one of those morons that "bought" an acre of the moon from some company, well...you got scammed.

Since each nation-state determines the laws by which people can own, buy, sell and transfer property and no nation can legally claim the authority over Moon, then there is no mechanism for individuals to own any part of the Moon for themselves.
