dailydomainer.com — It has happened to most of us: A perfect domain name pops into your mind. A quick check at your favorite domain registrar reveals that the domain is still available. For some reason, you put off the actual registration for a few days. And when you come back to finally register the domain, it’s taken by someone else! In many cases, this is ....

I had the exact same thing happen, searching on GoDaddy, with two domains within about a week. One could be coincidence, but two in a week? One domain was retained after the 5-day period (registered by Wild West Domains, Inc), and one was not, so it wasn't a complete loss, but I certainly don't trust some part of the chain at GoDaddy.

I don't know if all you paranoid freaks care or not but ..I used to kind of think the same way, however I then got into a position where I know for a fact that 'registering names someone searches for doesn't happen (at least at a certain company)) - it is so freaking amazing how many registrations and attempted registration and searches happen on a daily basis. You know the saying that an infinite amount of monkeys pounding on an infinite amount of typewriters would create shakespeare? well thats an explanation of probablility. The same thing happens with domain registrations. You may think that you are the only person who would ever ..ever ..ever try to register loutraine-mississippi.com (for example) but you would be wrong.I saw so many attempts that were the same or nearly the same that I will never believe again that a large registrar is doing this.

I just gotta say so what... This happens in just about every business and there just isn't anything wrong with it. Look at it like this, these people are upset because someone else had confidence in their domain name idea and they didn't. There is a saying around here that says $hit or get off the pot. If you want the name buy it but don't expect the world to stop while you scratch your butt trying to figure out if your amazing new website idea is worth $10.
