foxnews.com — It's frustrating that a law this sweeping was swept under the Obamacare rug. The Senate never introduced a student loan reform bill. It never held a hearing. And proposed changes to the student loan program were never even considered by lawmakers at the committee level. If the tables were turned, Democrats would be crying foul and demanding an eth

I'm sure they don't. However, everyone that posted here should realize, since the loans are ONLY going to be backed by the good standing of Americans (assuming student default), this bad debt will be much easier to sweep under the rug. It will extend socialist influence by forgiving debt on the poor and in turn secure an additional nice voting block at taxpayer expense.

Ok sure, except that in that example, the factory, wholesaler, and retailer all get a chunk of the pie. Who gets a chunk of the pie in the loan relationship? Government gets a negative piece, and the banks are left with the small positive piece that is a result of the government taking a negative piece.noblepaladin - good post, but to say that banks have better infrastructure is like saying we shouldn't have a revolution because england has a better infrastructure than the government in the colonies. By changing the system a decent one will be created that will just give the government the profits that they help create anyway. Sorry for the analogy but its all i could think of.

Just because an entity is "not-for-profit" does not mean that there is not an administrative and labor structure that does not want to get pay and benefits as large as possible. "Not-for-profit" does not automatically mean "low cost".

Contrary to what you brainless Marxists think, profits are not "stealing".

Maybe if you are a brainless parasite that would be a compliment.

Have to love Fox/Republican News... another end of the world story by that shill network and Perino. Get over it Pubs, you have a black president that he loves helping people get health care and education. I know you think its Armageddon educating and helping the masses, but you will live!

It strikes me that a lot of Diggers would have felt right at home in the Soviet Union under Stalin.

@Photo - That's great for college graduates but that is not going to cover the ones who don't graduate.@Stap1eGun - "...to graduate and start living off welfare..." Why do you expect them to graduate or even pick a degree that's going to benefit them? They're not paying for it so why should they?Yes, we do this for K-12 also. Just last year my daycare provider tried to let one of the parents know their kid was a bit behind on his ABCs than other kids his age. Their response was that was the schools job. If they had to pay it would be easier to argue that it is in fact their job. Even if only a portion of it.

Yes, because student loans are exactly the same as mass killings and concentration camps. Stupid, ill-informed comments like this are an insult to al the people who have gone through truly oppressive regimes.

I agree, run against it and watch the collage kids run to the polls and vote for the Demacratic ticket.

@b2717 - what do you think 1 TRILLION in guaranteed money does to the price of things? The colleges and universities will charge what the market will bear. With the market flooded with free money, the colleges and universities charge more.Notice all of the framing. Obama and the Democrats are claiming that they want to control the COST of health care. When it comes to education? They want to pay for the EXPENSE of education. The sad truth is that all of this government involvement is making both the cost and the expense much greater.I wish you and other people luck in seeing the trees through the forest of sound bites. Simple questions just may alter your notions of the government solutions making an "astronomical amount of sense". You just may find out that government involvement is the problem in the first place.
