tuaw.com — This Universal app tells you when and where your Mac was "born" but also: "it searches an online database of stolen Mac serial numbers, so you can tell if that Powerbook you got on Ebay "Fell off the back of a truck."" Ha ha. Awesome.

I just had the pleasure of maximizing and burying all those comments at the top. I feel all warm and fuzzy

They do. then after the five year life span then get put into the landfills with all of the old Lisa's, Quadra's ad Performas. IF you are looking for that pile, it's right next to the ET carts, the mountain of C128 and IBM PC jr'sthat never sold.

Sweatshop, some third world country (where they will get away with concentration camp type conditions). I love the way you Mac fans are all so concerned about wheather it is stolen or not but don't seem to give a s**t about the working conditions of where your prcious Apple products are manufatured! (Lets see how deep I get burried for that....)

I wish it could tell you whether a machine other than the one you're using is stolen. I have a ten year old PowerMac 5260 that I'm probably the 4th or 5th owner of, but I'd be willing to bet it was stolen from a school. I bought it from a friend who took it in trade for some web work he did, and I don't know where that guy got it from. Unfortunately, this app doesn't seem to work that way. Anyone know of any other way to check the stolen Mac directory? It does successfully tell me when it was built though (April 1996) so it goes back further than they advertise.

I want to know where they are getting the "Stolen" Information from as Apple Does not have any type of database of Stolen machines from what I have found out.
