myblogfordiggarticles.blogspot.com — While our constitution is being destroyed and our rights torn from our hands, we do nothing. Why, when our country needs us the most, do we sit idly by and speak without acting? Where are the activists?

That's a very interesting proposition, and there may be something to it.However, I don't so much mean "What happened to the activists that existed in the 60's?", as I mean "Where did activism go?". Why did activism disappear, and why are we afraid to act?In response to "What happened to the activists that existed in the 60's?" I think a very valid answer to that, along with "They're stoned out", would be that they... "grew up". They fell in line with society, got jobs, got married, had kids... and forgot to care about the problems in the world.

;-) I bow to your excellent 'godly' questions and will attempt a humble reply (;"Where did activism go?"(imo) You did a good job covering this when you said, "I think a very valid answer to that, along with "They're stoned out", would be that they... "grew up". They fell in line with society, got jobs, got married, had kids... and forgot to care about the problems in the world." ...and (imo) you are correct, but, as usual, there is more.My personal experience, from that time, was a majority of folks pursuing an alternative 'life style' got their 'minds blown' when they realized 'their parents were not saying anything about the murders of students at Jackson State, Kent State, and People's Park.' In other words, our parents, who educated us, were now allowing the (at that time) government to kill us.Here is a page, with some pictures, about that day, ~@~ did from a :) 'different' perspective during 1969.<a class="user" href="http://www.flyingsnail.com/Scrapbook/page008.html">http://www.flyingsnail.com/Scrapbook/page008.html</a>So, (imo) another answer would be Fear.As I said, parents were allowing the murder of their children over 'false pretenses'... and, it is important to remember a Draft was happening; when now we know the Sec. of Defense (at that time) said, 'he lied about the war, could have ended it earlier and saved the lives of millions of people.'"Why did activism disappear, and why are we afraid to act?"~@~ is attempting to answer this (in his own way) and starts on page one of the above link.He points out part of the problem involves Evolutionary Environmental Conditioning (EEC), where the parents teach the children, who become the parents, who teach the children, and so on, and that the information passed along is not always correct. There is also a study that shows a lot of U.S. citizens are 'over extended' in credit, are barely making the payments, and play a part of the (imo) 'drug abuse' mentioned above. As far as "they/them, here is how I see that ;)<a class="user" href="http://www.flyingsnail.com/Dahbud/mensch001.html">http://www.flyingsnail.com/Dahbud/mensch001.html</a> Great questions.

Weren't there a few drugs in the 60's too? If what I'm told is true, many who spoke out then used them. I'll take the Punk Rock defiance of the Sex Pistols over flower power, but the same disdain for status quo is shared.
