nytimes.com — ANYONE who follows technology or military affairs has heard the predictions for more than a decade. Cyberwar is coming. But how bad would a cyberwar really be — especially when compared with the blood-and-guts genuine article? Whatever the answer, governments are readying themselves for the Big One.

No, he's the guy to call for Nukes, Nerve Gas, Assassins, and Drinking Games. You need to either call John McClane, Jeff Goldblum's character from ID4, or Chuck Norris, both are experienced in dealing with hackers.

i think TOTSE has instructions and schematics on how to build an EMP bomb (theoretically). in practice it might take a little screwing around with, but it shouldn't be extremely difficult. it'd be interesting creating a technology-free zone out of a major city if it wouldn't kill people in hospital and people with pacemakers or assisted breathing machines and such.time to start building a Faraday cage around my room...

how? the Russian "cyber attack" on Estonia simply shut down some bank and government websites. all that was required to bring them back up was to filter IPs. unless a sudden gap in knowledge or technology surfaces in the field of network security between defense and intrusion techniques, a wide spread attack would not be possible, much less as a practical means of warfare.i also don't see how it would cause any direct casualties. most cyber attacks are only against internet-facing servers. no cyber attack is going to make your car's onboard computer or other integrated systems go haywire like in movies or on tv, and critical systems and networks are all inaccessible by the internet.an attack on communications infrastructure like satellites or fiber hubs using conventional weapons is much more practical.

Just because it's on the computer doesn't mean its on the interwebs.
Does anyone think "cyberwars" are really going to happen
It will happen once. And it will last about a day.How can you have a cyber war if countries can easily block the attackers? Cyberwar is another FUD campaign.
