xbox360-forums.com — Someone while on holiday in Japan took these photographs. When they got back, they found the identical place in the Project Gotham 3 race tracks. They are shockingly similar and just highlights the large amount of work that went into making the game. Impressive eh?

Anti-weed? Wow. Ignronance will never prevail. These lunatics blame weed as opposed to bad parenting. http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis.shtmlSpread the knowledge.

I'll play the devil's advocate here. Even if these photos are planted and the developers worked from them, you have to admit that the similarity is still pretty damn impressive. The fact that true photo realistic graphics are finally here is the real story. Planted or not, I like it. Dugg+

Whatever the source of the pics, they did a nice job detailing the game minus, of course, the smog, the traffic, the people, and the garbage. Shinjuku and Shibuya are positively trashed due to the sheer number of people passing through the area, throwing cigarette butts, drink cans, etc. mindlessly on the street. You wonder if they had to get permission to duplicate stuff like that, especially for the more prominent signage?

I believe the developers of Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 had an entire 5 mile Japanese Interstate bypass fully mapped. They would probably take 50 years to make (which is fine), but I hope games in the future will allow you to go everywhere, kind of like Google Earth but 3d, interactive, and first person; I'd never leave Disney World.

"They would probably take 50 years to make (which is fine), but I hope games in the future will allow you to go everywhere, kind of like Google Earth but 3d, interactive, and first person; I'd never leave Disney World."X-Plane 8.21 with global scenery lets you fly over satellite imagery for about +/-60 degrees latitude around the earth. Not really 3D, though, but it looks good at cruising altitude.

It's like taking a 3D photograph.Even if you could map the whole world, by the time you finish, the world will have changed. We've got a long way to go before we simulate the world.

Meh... this was done a while back with Gran Turismo. No digg. GT is much better anyway. =)
