rossching.com — Kina Grannis, the girl behind that "Gotta Digg" video two years ago got signed to Interscope but left the major label scene prematurely. She has brought her fans with her and will be releasing an independent album beginning with the launch of this music video.

Well, I preordered two signed copies yesterday (paying 11 dollars for shipping, ugh), and she sold out the troubadour (legendary LA live local) a few weeks ago (600+ people), not spending a penny in advertising money. She co-wrote and produced a couple of songs for Davind Arcileta (Idol dude) last year which should bring her some money too. While it would be interesting to take part of her financing for this album, and it is unlikely to make her a billionaire, she wont go begging any time soon. How many copies does she need to sell to make bank... She'll easily sell 10k copies on pre-order alone, which should bring her more money than the majority of people signed to a label make off their records. Afterall, she will net 95-50 percent of the retail price, compared to the 1 percent a signed artist on a label gets. Anyway, don't be such an enormous a-hole, candorny.

Great, now I'll be thinking 'gotta digg gotta digg gotta digg', when I'm typing in my username and password...She is so hot though so I suppose it's OK that her songs stuck in my head right now.

Why not? I've been subscribed to her and been watching her stuff on Youtube for over 2 years already and I don't see google pulling the plug any time soon and if she continues doing a cover/original song every 2 weeks she'll at least keep that fan base going, and probably adding to it. Last music CD I bought was the Marshal Mathers LP back in 2000, but I pre-ordered this without hesitating.Youtube viewers/subscribers are not slow to reach for their wallet if they feel they are getting a fair shake. So, if you call common sense analysis delusional... sure, I'll take that. Two years from now she'll be making youtube vids, selling 50k records/release at least and selling out small/medium size venues. She'll only need to reach 20 % of that success to bank over 100k a year, making quite a decent living. What do you think will happen instead?
