networks.silicon.com — What will your mobile look like in 2015? Like a necklace, some specs, or a ring? Those are just some of the ideas dreamt up by 26 design students from London's Central St Martins College of Art and Design, tasked by phone maker Nokia with coming up with the next must-have device for 2015's users.

I just want my cellphone to look like a cellphone and function like one.

You guys have no imagination. In 2015, your mobile phone will be extremely small. It will be used just like a suppository and run indefinitely, employing a fuel cell running off methane and other intestinal gases. The microphone will sense the sound waves travelling from your throat through your body. The loudspeaker will be simply loud enough that you can hear the audio with your ears. Also, the phrase "talking out of your ass" will change its meaning completely.

I want my cell implanted at the base of my skullAdd an antenna running over the body signal network and a cochlear implant. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Ever see the SNL skit where Will Ferrell was the "manager" of the upscale clothing store in the mall? That's the cell phone of the future.

We probably won't have phones at all, but rather have some device tapped into out brain sending impulses so that we will be able to "imagine" the whole interface, do everything at lightning speeds (just like thinking), and the receiver will simply be our ear, or maybe they will just directly send the signals to the brain... perfect audio quality.

Yesterday as I repeatedly ran up and down a flight of stairs to check on a server (it was running a consistency check, so no, VNC or similar was not an option) it occured to me that a cell phone would make an awesome wireless webcam. It already has all the hardware it needs, just a matter of software. That's something I'd really like to see them start implementing.

@Skyshock21"What do you mean? All you have to do is look at the Japanese market, they're always 10 years ahead of USA and Europe with their wireless phones"I wouldn't say 10 years. Europe has normally led us in this technology.1973-1976 Motorola built the first mobile phoneGSM was from the FrenchAMPS was invented here in the 80's by bell labs.CDMA Qualcomm US (Japan got this rolled out in Tokyo in 1998)3G Dr Irwin Jacobs from QualcommWe are just slow to roll things out here. ;-)

In 2015, we'll come back and read this article along with the comments, and we'll laugh our heads off.
