The Swiss have nearly the same form of government as the one you claim sucked balls, and it's worked for them extremely well, probably better than any other government in Europe. I think America's problem wasn't that there wasn't enough government, it's that they were all living out in the ass end of nowhere, surrounded by people who didn't know them and didn't much like them.
