If the Palm Pre bombs, we are doomed, because that means people worldwide have gone blind, deaf and dumb.

We should never listen to "the analysts". Look what they did to the economy. All they do is to either generate hype or fear to either bring up or bring down a product/stock/company/commodity.At this stage, I think they Pre is all hype. A phone isn't about the OS. It's about usability and the hardware it comes with. Unless the Pre ships with a 5 MP camera, bluetooth everything, lots of CPU power, excellent battery life and a carrier data plan that includes voice to total less than $30/month, it will not succeed. And the phone has to cost less than $200 on top of that too!

When I was a kid (I'm 66), We had to wind up the Palm with a skate key. It took a half hour, then it only ran for 10 minutes before the keys started sticking. The good thing was it was programmable with an ordinary screwdriver. If the new Pre has touchscreen programability and a substantial API it will be a winner. There is a huge cadre of Palm programmers around. Apple can not claim patent infringement if the gestures are user programmed. As such, it would do all and more than the Apple, IMHO. It has my vote.

Everyone is saying that the Palm Pre looks great, but Sprint will mess it up. Why?I see complaints about Sprint's coverage, but I also hear a lot of pain about AT&T's coverage.I guess it all depends on what the coverage is like where you live.I've been on Sprint for years, and I've had no trouble with the coverage in the Los Angeles Basin Everyone is saying that the Palm Pre looks great, but Sprint will mess it up. As a bonus, my company offers me a 25% discount on Sprint, so I'm not likely to leave.I've heard that Sprint has some terrible customer service, but I think it's pretty bad for all of the Carriers. In the end, it's looking like Palm will release other webOS devices (not necessarily the Pre) on other carriers, which is probably the smartest business decision.area.
