homepage.mac.com — The iPod mini was accidently left in my brother's jeans. When we plugged it in to my PowerBook it was recognized and mounted as a iPod with 2TB of space. Although iTunes would not show any song data and trying to view the volume would lock up the finder. When powered on the screen only shows a sick face.

that's because the nano is all flash.....the mini runs on a standard platter based HDD. If he drops the ipod gently, it might unstick the platters and get it spinning again (as teh story linked above instructs). i did it for my 4G 20gig after getting the sad face. it works great now..... with a cracked LCD, but it still works.

That OS X Disk Utility is a handsome application, isn't it.

No, the DATA shrank to the point where it could no longer be found, and the disk swelled into 2 TB

You'd think they could at least give you an error code of sorts instead of that useless sick face.

You'll need to place your washed player in an Ultrasonic Bath. These baths' shake a sample solvent with 40KHZ frequency and will clean every possible bit of dirt. I washed my friends Iriver IFP-899 and it looks like brilliant , but it doesn't powers on :( I think this is because I tried to force the player to power up before the cleaning.Good luck.

You are very lucky recently i went on a holiday and left my mini ipod in a zip pocket in my towel. My friend put the towel in the wash and by the time i realized were my ipod was it had already been through a hole washing machine cycle. My ipod doesn't turn on now and if you plug it in to the lap top it is not even recognized. My friend is going to buy me the new ipod color nano : ) but is there any thing i can do to get it working again

I left an iPod inside a jacket and went into the washing machine. Then it went to the drying machine for a full cycle. For a couple of days it was totally death. After leaving it one day drying close to a window exposed to the sun (in up side down position) water disappeared from the screen. Later, when using the dial wheel, the clicks came back, and so the music but with a black screen. An extra couple of days warming in my shirt pocket, and dark readings appeared in the screen. The next day the readings became clearer and only a little shadow remained in the bottom of the screen. Later that day, there was no shadow at all. I got a full recovery. It seems worth to try. I wouldn’t recommend turning it on before the drying process.
