My buddy does Digital Efffects (smoke, fire, explosions) he did the buildings in 2012 and the ships firing in Flags Of Our Fathers. But yea, he makes great money, me personally couldnt deal with the hours regardless of pay. I need my "me time".
So that shot of the fire and smoke in front of the green screen impressed me for a reason. I had assumed they perfected super-dooper algorithms to do it...turns out the algorithm is to pay someone to painstakingly grovel over the footage. You have my sympathies.
