gamespot.com— The launch of Windows Vista will not only fatten the pockets of Gates' but it will also bring with it DirectX 10. "It will offer six to eight times the graphics performance of DirectX 9.0"

Direct X. Isn't that the "Technology" that allows for Multiple Exploits on win systems. Yeah it is! aahhh interesting. Have phun you direct-x faries! :)
What will Vista do for PC gaming? Kill it! I mean, since the OS takes up 2Gb of RAM (for the Premium version with all the features needed for gaming) the chances of a system having enough RAM on top of that to run, say Battlefield 2 (2Gb of RAM to run properly, total of 4Gb of RAM) are close to nil. Seriously, as soon as the PS3 or Xbox 360 gains mouse/keyboard support, PC gaming is dead as the Bush Doctrine.
gaming console lmao. you only like playing strategy games on a pc. it's clear you don't have much of a pc. my son has an xbox play station2. i was gonna buy him a xbox360 but he told me not to. he has a pc with a xp3200+ asus motherboard 5700 ultra nivada 2gigs of ram 120 gig hard drive. games great. my pc has a amd 64 bit 3500+ 2gigs of ram 300 gig hard drive. asus motherboard a8n-sli with 2 6800gt nivida cards. games like hell. console vrs pc. ill pick pc every time. i know I'm off content but i saw that post. ass far as vista goes ill make the jump. upgrade or stay in the dark. teck will pass you by unless you like playing old games
Microsoft can claim what they like, 'til their blue in the face. I'll only believe what I see. I'll probasbly use Vista becuase I have to keep on top of technology as part of my job (and I do it by using stuff at home and getting used to it then I know where I am at work later), but claims don't mean anything to me.
The transition will be even slower if Microsoft go through with the whole closing the analog hole and making you buy a new monitor (<a class="user" href="http://theinquirer.net/?article=25094).">http://theinquirer.net/?article=25094).</a> If upgrading to vista mean we are going to have to replace all the monitors we have (and essentially leave us with hundreads of brand new working LCDs), then there is no way we are ever going to go through with this. This might just be DRM items that you need a monitor for, but look at it this way: "Yay! we can spend X hunderds or dollars to cripple all of our employees computers!"

DirectX 10 supports the new video driver model that windows vista uses....it would be extremely difficult for them to backport it to XP.

Of course you will notice a speed improvement. But the main reason will be that you need to by a *much* faster graphic card so that Vista runs at all.

No, it simply means that DX10 will get rid of old overheads. It makes perfect sense.

I assume your pathetic little world doesn't extend beyond Windows games, the one and only thing that DirectX is widely used for.
