boston.com — It's time to congratulate the man who once rewrote Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" as "Chicken Pot Pie." Weird Al Yankovic, satirical pop-goblin and parody merchant, has not simply endured but triumphed: His new album, "Straight Outta Lynwood", shot into the Billboard Top 10 upon its release last month--his highest chart placing since the '80s.

His white and nerdy hoodies are awesome. I can't wait to pick one up now that he is selling them again.

One of my favorite memories was blasting that song down the Vegas strip during Comdex.

For Christmas 1987, when I was 6, my parents bought me a Walkman and Weird Al's "Weird Al in 3-D" and "Dare to be Stupid".I've been hooked ever since.

What an idiot. But I'm gonna have to admit that he does make me laugh like crazy. But NOTHING will beat his polkarama. Now that's just the funniest and so original

I think he succeeds because no one else is doing this kind of music. At least, not that I know of. Satyrical isn't the kind of music you hear in movies, games, on the radio, etc. It's good because it's funny; it strikes a chord in those that like to play satire on fanboyism and popular songs. Not to mention the videos just rock. My favorite has been the song "Fat" for the longest time, despite it being made before I was born. It was also the first Weird Al I've ever experienced, and I've been coming back for more. "Smells Like Nirvana" is awesome because... well, the lyrics were a bit difficult to understand in the original :)
