For those of you who only followed this band's commercials releases, but crave more material aiken to the Pinkerton era I highly suggest you "digg" into their unreleased catalog:http://www.weerez.com/news/That website is an excellent place to find well over triple digits worth of Weezer songs that will never surface on a record you'll find in a store. "Devotion," "Brightening Day," "I Just Threw Out the Love of my Dreams," and the infamous Songs from the Black Hole are all songs any fan of Weezer should hear....and those are just the tip of the ice berg.I'm sorry if this sounds like an awful promo, but they're my favorite band and I'd hate to see them go (again).
weezer has been my favorite band for over a decade, but i recently came to the conclusion that they havent been great since pinkerton, so them breaking up isnt really that big of a deal....still it seems kind of sad.
That Blue record is simply a classic. Beautifully crafted tunes throughout. You need more than a simple chord progression to write tunes like that. Anyone can learn basic rock chords. Creating a melody to go along is the genius that is rare. From my hazy recollection, they didn't do much at all for a while after that record, and like others, I only cherry pick some tunes from the other records.
