This is so true. It's happening to me right now... each revision I do for my f**king client bring its a step closer to looking like there website from 1997.
Included with the original quote I allow specific time for unlimited revisions like 2 work days depending on the project. After that any more revisions will be charged my hourly rate. This forces them to settle on a design choice instead of fiddling around with it if they want to keep it under budget. Since I mostly work in Flash that is a whole different process. once the programming starts (after the design is approved) I dont allow any more revisions. Once the final comp is delivered they can make minor changes but any change involving the structure of the code or design are charged hourly.
What's wrong with an animated ripple effect? If I were selling water or paint, I think this would be perfectly acceptable. Just something in the banner, drip, ripple, drip, ripple. Drat, now I have to go to the restroom.Embedded loop music is a good way to make sure no one wants to go to your website at work. If you're really that concerned about how customers spend time on your website when they should be work, use a porn soundtrack. Preferably with a script that unmutes the computer.
I follow all web design best practices and design every type of website yet I do not get work due to highest competition. Websites like homestead.com and third party freelancing websites are nightmare for web designers.
