telegraph.co.uk— The mass diversion of the North American grain harvest into ethanol plants for fuel is reaching its political and moral limits.

I can tell you what is killing the world is the people interested in making a killing in OIL. ITS EXXON, ITS SHELL, ITS BP. ITS the Oil CARTEL. Wages do not typically skyrocket 150 percent after a crisis. Is your Boss going to give you a raise based on what is happening in with Gas Prices? Probably not, your going to have to quit and find a new job at a higher salary. Will that happen in this economy? Doubtful you will be able to find a new job doing what you are doing....... who knows. Corporations dont love people. All they love is money. Blood seems to be worth less than Oil. Shame. I just had another daughter who had a child. I told her not to bring any more children into the world because it is going to hell. Why would you want to? As to the debate on ethanol, whoever decided it was to be made out of corn was an Oil executive. Because the panic for food only drives the price of Oil and Gas up higher. When George leaves office and the WAR is over all this crap will die down. I for one do not see the need to pack up to some other country and spend every last dime of America to go bail out some wacko's that off each other in the middle of the desert.
Bah... you cant even start to contemplate in what ways our lifestyles are a cause of the suffering in the world. When was the last time you shopped in the fruit and vegetable isle? Most us the stuff comes from south and central america while we grow food for ethanol. And where does your wheat and corn come from? Canada. This can all turn pretty ugly real soon. Read up on the number of countries that are banning exports of their food staples.Ignorance IS a bliss.
I'm an environmentalist and have opposed ethanol production since the beginning. The best way to save the planet is to reduce consumption. Start by getting rid of that goddamn automobile.
Has anyone heard of Bactranol (Bacterial Transformation Ethanol). Bactranol is ethanol produced from bacterium which can perform the function of fermenting xylose to ethanol. This is cutting edge stuff. No more need for corn ethanol. This is truely revolutionary. From what I understand (and I know that this is simplified), green mater such as grass clippings can be placed in water. The special bacteria breaks down the cellulose to make Ethanol in a matter of hours. This skips many processes. Nature has provided once again.
Arguements against biofuels are fundamentally flawed. Not all production methods are the same. The alternative to biofuels is oil. The arguement against biofuels are: Corn ethanol prodution causes food shortages (this is true), clearing of land cutting down trees is bad (this is true )etc. BUTThere are other forms of biofuels that nobody seems to understand and nobody is talking about yet.... Ceetol is cellulosic ethanol - ethanol that can be produced from any WASTE plant material. Grass clippings etc. Bactranol (bacterial transformation ethanol ) is ethanol that can be produced using simple bacteria that preform a complex function (breaking down the cellulose in a new way). Please don't talk bad about biofuels until you understand them well because people are already confused. New methods of harvesting them (NOT from crops, NOT from corn, NOT from trees are being created today). Do your research people and then let others know what you have learned. 70% percent of our municiple waste can be changed into fuel with carbon neutral processes (no negative effects on the environment). Doesn't this change the arguement? The arguement now becomes: Good ethanol V Bad oil (which do you want) - if people don't know this info then how can they make an informed choice. Please let them know!! Talk about it - in fact shout about it - they will listen!! - That's how you can make a difference!! Send this info to your friends so they can demand 'good ethanol'.

Like in every article about environmentalism, they ignore the obvious: overpopulation.
