Fair enough. I cannot help but attribute some of these shortcomings to Snyder, who I feel invariably had some control over what was going on. Certainly, the casting and the use of gloom-and-doom music, along with the numerous close-up shots of Veidt's face staring with what looks like nothing but textbook bad-guy malice.

I thought that Goode's acting was actually quite convincing. Certainly better than that of Malin Akerman. The problems with his character, I think, ran much deeper than just the actor they chose. It certainly didn't help, however.
