cnet.com— In 2007, the world's favorite social network, MySpace, quickly gave ground to Facebook and companies like the ill-fated Netscape tried to take on Digg. But which of these sites was the best of 2007?

Fark has a certain genuine absurdity that make it very refreshing. Drew isn't worrying about an IPO. He isn't worried about offending anyone. Drew's beer budget mentality is so refreshing, people actually pay $5 a month to revel in their misanthropy. While it is basically a community of assh**es, it really has been able to maintain a sense of community. Plus it has that whole squirrel with the big balls thing going for it.I wonder why Fark doesn't get more mainstream kudos, or is that actually the whole point? Fark is succeeding for the same reasons Craigslist is so successful. No, I wasn't only thinking about easy access to hookers who do greek.
ive also been here a bit of time... not as long as some... but longer than most.... and i have seen changes through digg... ive seen the rise and fall of albert pacino and dirty frat boy... listed to everybody gripe about how all the stories are created by the top 10 diggers... (back when you could look at those statictics) You may hate the comment system now but it might be a bit better than me saying something and then ten comments later have a @Cerberus047 comment.... (which is what we had back in the waaay day) So where am i going with all of this? well ive seen many changes on digg... some good... some bad, but a big one i noticed was the lack of creativity throughout the community... i mean back in the day (man i sound old) you had awesome conversations learning something new about tech and gadges everyday... and when digg opened up the other sections i had high hopes...i though hey maybe experts from those fields can teach me something new about politics and the enviroment and what not.... but i noticed that slowly we have been moving the opposite way... we have attracted the general myspace loving public... to spam our comments with blogs... to belive that they are a part of a community by shouting old, or regurgitated memes (if your new learn your place and only comment when nescesary, we all learned this, now its your turn) But ive also noticed that no matter what happens there will still be complainers, and talking about how much better /. is or reddit or whatnot... but hey could it be our fault why digg dosent have the best content.... do we get mad at youtube for the dumb comments made on it, or a dumb video? of course not, if you want to see better stuff on digg, stop complaining and find stories!, Now i may sound like a hypocrite, but im abysmal at finding stories, so i do my part by digging comments and digging stories, and continue to read this site(btw i read this site daily since 2004) (i had other accounts before that)
