@ssergei,Actually that is incorrect. I used to work as a Hotdog vendor and these guys used to come to exchange their change for bills all the time. On Saturday night, the haul they came up with in the dead of winter usually exceeded 30 dollars per hour. This is all in Cnd bucks so milage may vvary, and it was at one of the busiest corners in the city, but I was still very impressed. This one couple who I used to throw in with to buy a Half Quarter of weed every now and then used to come to check if I was there before they went to "work" and they'd come back like 2 and a half hours later each with a good 60-80 bucks in their pocket. I was seriously tempted to give up shleping Hotdogs to do that, but then the City went and made it illigal cuz they couldn't tax it(oh they said it was a "Public Safety issue" but noone believed that except the little old ladies).
it's more like 2 to 3 per light. The guys on rollar blades could sometimes do 5-6 per light, but that proved to be a lil dangerous lol. This is also a lot more lucrative in nations that have a dollar coin.
I can't believe you aren't cuz I've seen just how much money panhandlers and squeegers make. The t**s...erm Chicks usually get more "gratuities" though ;)
By no means am I saying that I support this. For over a year, my friend was a squeegee boy. He picked a busy intersection, where there are always left turn signal lights so he has a longer period to work until the lights turn green. People usually give him $2, sometimes nothing. Some people give him money before he starts washing just to shoo him off. Sometimes people give him bills (The people who don't have coins). This is in Canada, so the smallest bill is $5. But on average, he makes at least $100/day, sometimes over $300. There's a strategy to this. Pick the right car and the type of person:- Look for people who look like they're new to the country. They tend to feel guilty and always pay.- Look for ballers/gangsters/cool people who drive souped up cars.. especially if their girlfriend is in the car. They usually give you a bill (not coins) and you don't even have to wash their window. He got $100 bills a few time from these type of people. Some of them just like to show off their money in front of their girlfriends.- Look for people who drive expensive cars. They don't pay you a lot, but at least most of them pays.- Look for limos, but not taxis. Limos will usually give you coins before you start as well. Taxis let you wash their windows, but don't pay you.- Don't wash a gangster's car. That's a black car with tinted windows, people who look like pimps, or someone who just looks dangerous. Don't mistaken a teenagers who drive souped up cars as gangsters. - Don't wash cars with kids in it. The kids get scared. Not that you don't make any money off it, but you don't want to scare the kids.- Always look for police. If you see one, walk away and come back. When asking for money:- Put your palms together and look innocent. No need to talk.- Don't knock on the window. You'll make them mad.- When they give you coins, look back at them as if you're telling them "that's all?". Sometimes there are other bums and fake bums who hog the intersection he's working at. He just talks nicely to them and has never encountered any problems (surprisingly). Sometimes you can't hog the whole intersection and you can only hog one side which greatly reduces your earnings. However, with the proper strategy, you can make a lot of money being a squeegee boy. This is banned in many areas. Do your research before you start.
