@Atomic1fire:your high school social studies teacher is very simple minded.a gun is not required to defend yourself. the proliferation of personal weapons has only lead to increased gun violence. pulling out a gun during a confrontation causes an escalation of danger to everyone in the situation. you may feel powerful holding your gun, but what if someone else has a bigger gun? and how will your gun defend you against a government that has apache helicopters, nukes, etc.?we live in a participatory democracy. the way to protect our freedoms is by being vigilant of our government's actions and exercising our democratic prerogative. being informed and making your voice heard is the most powerful weapon in safeguarding your freedoms, not guns. that is a mere anachronistic distraction.
