ecogeek.org — Getting a solar system installed on your house is decidedly complicated. There is no centralized system, only contractors who you may or may not be able to trust. Prices for installation vary wildly, as do prices for the modules themselves.

What the hell is everyone talking about? I was merely referring to the horrible working conditions in China. This has nothing to do with a wage.

I think these big retailers have to be open to new small startups that are innovating their ways around the tax credit fiasco like Envision’s flat-pack products, the LIfeTree™ and LIfeShade™:-these are flat-pack options (solar in a box)-they offer a nice backyard feature and provide shade without messing up your roof-the price point is lower than almost any roof install ($15,500 for the LifeShade™ and $16,500 for the LIfeTree™)-they use the latest technology micro-inverters so you don’t need equipment at your meter, it’s just an AC line that any electrician can connect-the micro-inverters come with an online system that tracks the production of clean energy graphically (great education tool for the kids!)

I also agree its a good thing, because solar has to hit it's 2.0 to stay alive and healthy and I think that "flat pack" is the next big thing. I was just telling FTLJohnson earlier, "now is the time to get innovative" and for these "tough" economic times... it's great to see a startup innovate their ways around economic times and government obstacles. I happen to be a fan of Envision's "LIfe Lines" of product, because they're sleek, modular, very exciting tech, and a great example of biomimicry.

What do you think? Is "solar in a box" ready for Sam's Club and Ikea?(If you don't know, you better ask somebody)Read this story: "WantSolar? Head to Sam's Club" ---http://digg.com/environment/Want_Solar_Head_to_Sam ...I was privileged to see a couple behind the scenes photos of thefinished product for Adrian Grenier's Hollywood home and for his show,Alter Eco, an eco lifestyle and makeover series. It may come in a box,but its perfect for those who live outside of the box!Can you Digg it? I'm curious just to have the discussion?http://digg.com/environment/Solar_Power_to_the_Peo ...Shade

so nobody's found a way to create a fully solar panel roof yet? Because it only makes sense.http://homedepothours.com/

Getting solar panels for my house would rock in the long term. I wonder what else Sams club sells. http://www.creditcardassociate.com/sams-club.html
