engadget.com — With HD DVD, things are just going from bad, to really bad, to worse, to car-crash-you-can't-stop-looking-at. You can file this one under that latter category, as Wal-Mart has officially announced its intentions to stop stocking HD DVD players and movies by June.

PS3 is by far the best bluray player out, and the only player out that will support all future profile updates. So yeah, if you're going to buy a BluRay player, the PS3 is the best choice. And yes, it plays a lot of great games and is a very powerful gaming platform too. Win Win.

Microsoft will not release a bluray addon. They'd only point out to all future buyers the value difference between the PS3 and 360, which is something they can't afford to do. Let's do the math:PS3 with 40gb Hard Drive, WiFi, BluRay drive, Free online = $400X360 with 20gb HD $350, WiFi, $100, BluRay Drive $200 (at least), Online Play $50 per year = $700 for first year plus $50 a year going forwardIf you present someone with those facts and see that you're paying almost twice as much for the 360, have recurring fees, and even have a smaller HD, it's hard to see why people looking at buying a machine would go with the 360 going forward.

That will now change going forward, and I expect we'll see higher quality transfers aimed at BluRay's capacity now.

Yes, the ICT has not been implemented yet. But again, it also applies to downloadable HD content. The ICT will likely never be implemented. They've forsworn implementing it until 2012 at the earliest, at which point component won't even matter.
