blogs.zdnet.com— About two weeks ago, Wal-Mart began selling $200 Linux-based PC. The initial run was around 10,000 units. Now Wal-Mart is sold out. Has Linux now found a niche?

I think Google is going to try to push Microsoft out of the phone business. They are well poised to do that within the next couple of years. It shouldn't take much, anything is better than Windows Mobile (except Palm's OS).
You know when they get home and realize they can't install any software they want to use (whether it doesn't run on Linux or they simply can't figure it out) they are going to be pissed. They will realize "Hey, this isn't the same thing as Windows". Yes, people are that clueless about computers. It may say everything it needs to about running another operating system and it might even say "Some Windows software not compatible" somewhere. Still doesn't matter. If you're selling it at Wal-Mart, someone is going to get ripped off because they don't know what they got and won't have a computer at all until they get a friend to install Windows.
This PC is also advertised on www.zareason.com but according to user "wjl" over at lxer.com zareason.com is sold out as well.mentions the $200 deal (today) http://tinyurl.com/2mlazg. I say email everex and tell them to get more on the way: customerservice@everex.com
I went out of the PC business because people would buy Dell or HP, to get better pricing. First time buyers, of which there are still many out there, will always buy the Walmart cheapest. After all, if it doesn't work for them, it didn't cost them so much. That IS retailing, in a nutshell. People will always want something for nothing, and we are still new to the computer revolution, regarding the public. I know that is hard to believe but it is true.......I will continue to build my own, until I don't have the energy to do the research required. (Anything you knew a year ago is worthless) heheheheheCyborg AMD 4200+ Dual, that is already almost 2 years old.. Sheeeez.... It never ends, does it?? :)

Suspect? It's one hundred percent fact, without a doubt. 99.9% of purchases are going to result in some pretty pissed off customers.
