Genius. Screw the illegal IRS, I wish I could get away with this myself!

By using this loophole, Wal-Mart saved consumers 17.7 million dollars. Companies don't pay taxes, consumers do.

It's not ALWAYS right to minimize an expense. It's probably a lot cheaper to install poor quality seat belts in cars, lets face it most people will never know. That's minimizing an expense but it sure as hell isn't right. But you're right about passing savings onto the customer, however you missed the fact that Wal Mart paying more taxes will be good for the 'ignorant' American public too. I think most people are pissed off that Wal Mart (and other companies) are getting around paying taxes. Which really isn't fair.

The problem is the way taxation is structured in contemporary western states - great example.

You don't know much about Wal-Mart, I see. They consistently drop their prices as much as they can afford to, and that's been the major driver of their growth ever since Sam Walton opened his first store.-jcr

that is crazy what companies can get away with. I guess it makes sense from an accounting point of view. http://www.exitrealtyvernal.com/
