desktoplinux.com — In Samuel Becket's masterpiece, 'Waiting for Godot,' Godot never arrives, and the play ends with our characters still waiting. I sometimes think Linux users are also stuck in a barren landscape endlessly waiting for Dell, HP, Lenovo, or another major vendor to finally deliver a mass-market Linux desktop.

I feel the same way. If someone I know wants Linux, I'll point them in the right direction.Like so:<a class="user" href="http://lxer.com/module/db/viewby.php?uid=120&sort=120&offset=0&dbn=14">http://lxer.com/module/db/viewby.php?uid=120&sort=120&offset=0&dbn=14</a><a class="user" href="http://www.elinuxstop.com/e107_plugins/zogo-shop/categories.php">http://www.elinuxstop.com/e107_plugins/zogo-shop/categories.php</a>

Luckily economics will eventually make one of 2 things happen. First and foremost the cost to upgrade to Vista at the large corporate and government level will force IT managers to consider any alternative to Vista and Office 07. When comparing apples to apples the alternative will win some serious deals.Secondly, and probably more important in the long run, the hesitancy of OEMs to preinstall anything other than Microsoft will shed more and more light on the stranglehold MS seems to have on OEMs.
