Yeah, the day the United States breaks apart will be the day Kevin Costner becomes a fake mail man and I change my name to Ford Lincoln Mercury to help him deliver all the mail. Oh wait...
I think at least some of those "extreme right-wingers" who you refer to as "looking forward to" the disintegration of the the United States are Christians like myself - the kind of people who understand that Christianity really means giving your allegiance to God WAY MORE than to anyone else, including your country, your family and yourself. God rules! (to use the vernacular) And God's way is right no matter what he does. When people rebel against God, he warns them. If they ignore the warnings and continue to rebel long enough, he eventually destroys them. Just as God is distressed by human rebellion against Him, his people should be distressed to see that rebellion. God's people rejoice when the rebellious repent. They also rejoice when God reveals his power and sovereignty by destroying the unrepentant. There has been much rebellion against God in the US for a very long time, causing distress to God and to his people. Christians long to see a resolution. They hope to see the resolution of repentance, but if that won't happen, we will rejoice at God destroying the rebellious. If the United States does fall apart, resulting in pain and suffering, some of us will see God's wrath at work. And we will be right. If you don't want to be the "victim" of God's wrath, try repentance. It works.
I believe the leaders of this country are too limp wristed to ever use the nukes...so I don't believe having them means we'll use them to defeat foreign influences....now if the Iranians were in charge, that'd be a different story.
