I'm not a big fan of the Pats, well let's get real I hate the Pats. But if there's any team out there that can take a "ME" type of player and turn him around and make him a "TEAM" type of player it would be the Pats. Look what they did to Corey Dillion, he used open his mouth up all the time when he played for Begal but once he was on the Pats you never heard from him. The only exception to this rule is a player like T.O., I don't think any coach or team can control him. I mean if you can run Bill Parcells out of the NFL then you can do just about anything.
Probably oil and water - he can say he's about team goals now, but what is he going to say when he plays 20 downs and only gets one ball? The Pats under Brady share the wealth and individual stats go out the window. Can Moss stay the course? I doubt he is still on the team come the playoffs. Doug Gabriel was their leading receiver last season when they had little WR talent, and they cut him for having a bad attitude... That TO s**t doesn't fly with Belicheck. Over-under? 65-35 says he doesn't last one season.
Branch was a bit overrated (and I say this as a lifelong Pats fan), but he is a middle of the road # 1 receiver and on half the teams in the NFL he would be a # 2. Hell he would be # 3 on Indy or Cincy. That's not to say I don't like him, don't take it the wrong way, but he wanted to be paid top 5 receiver money and was only worth top 20. I do agree that they should have resigned both if they could, but monetarily it didn't make sense to keep Branch, Givens is the one who realistically could've and should have been resigned.
I agree, they really lose very little if this doesn't pan out and stand to gain a LOT if it does. Bill B. is no fool, this will either work like a charm or end quickly, but Bill won't let it won't hurt the Pats no matter what.
