but its the US constitution that protects your right to equal protection and right to privacy.. yes, states can rule on the constitutionality of a state law, but so can the USSC it's their job

Two single people each earning $75,000 pay less in taxes when they are single then if they get married and have joint income of $150,000. Hence the Marriage Tax!

Civil Unions in lieu of marriage is "separate but equal". It's not just about the name, its about gay marriages being in the same group as straight marriages, as that signifies acceptance in mainstream society. A separate title separates the group.
