I assume by "squashed" they mean that the solar system is all lined up in a disk-shape, like a frisbee, versus a big sphere.

so the data is transmitted at the speed of light? right, forgive my ignorance here. how is it transmitted? radio is electromagnetic radiation, so is it the same speed as light?
