redorbit.com — Voyager 1, already the most distant human-made object in the cosmos, reaches 100 astronomical units from the sun on Tuesday, August 15 at 5:13 p.m. Eastern time (2:13 p.m. Pacific time). That means the spacecraft, which launched nearly three decades ago, will be 100 times more distant from the sun than Earth is.

Perhaps Voyager 1 was that space probe that collided with god?

Gravity must be digging you down.

@Scynet,Well.. All that's needed is a big enough grain of dust traveling at 17000 Km/h relative to the spacecraft to destroy it completely.What saves it is that, out there, dust is pretty rare;

Does anyone know if the material that was on the "Golden Record" is available for download anywhere? The original book "Murmurs of Earth" contained a CD with all this info, but this book has been out of print for a while. Surely parts of it are online somewhere? It would be cool to hear all the diffenet greetings and types of music selected by scientists.

It's too bad Voyager I will run out of juice by 2020 and stop sending radio signals back. I bet there are surprises out there and it'd be cool to get more data.
