or even better... 2k! Or 4k for that matter...Though, as it stands, on average size TV's, HD will look as good, if not better than a theater presentation, which DVD can never really do. Also do not forget that the two new formats also support lossless, high resolution audio, a big jump from the fairly low bit-rate audio DVD gives you (as good as it is), and (theoretically) EXACTLY the same as what you would hear a in a theater, (minus the differences in acoustics).
the site is down. but judging from digg title, this is very stupid. you can't compare xvid to dvd. where did he get that xvid? movie studio encoded the original into xvid? don't think it's possible.buried as lame
I don't see much of a difference between the last two, its a bit sharper. But I can say theres a huge difference when you spread it across say 32inches.

the dvd image seems far too poor in this comparison, as if it has been artificially sharpened to show up noise in the image, or maybe this is just the jpg artefacts coming through :)the following comes from a dvd5 copy of irobot, taken in lossless png:http://www.qwplayers.org/oldman/irobot-480p.png
